Welcome to the web site of the Catholic Parish of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Ryde.
The following pages contain much information on our parish, its colourful and interesting history, its groups and societies and all aspects of parish life. Our most important role as a community is preaching and living the Gospel message through our worship of Almighty God, passing on the Catholic Faith and responding positively to all appeals and initiatives that complement these objectives. We are very fortunate that we have one of the finest early Victorian Catholic churches in the south; - the Church of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary; a daughter church at Bembridge dedicated to St. Michael; and the two famous Benedictine abbeys at Quarr and St. Cecilia's.
St. Mary’s is one of the foundation churches of the Diocese of Portsmouth and the first church in England to be dedicated in honour of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.
